On the craft front

I made this pot holder for a friend's birthday using my old ironing board cover (for padding), a cocktail napkin that had been Mum's and some fabric thrifted from here.

I won a pretty give-away at The Clip Cafe

Mr M is now on the waiting list for surgery for his twisted stomach hernia (up to 3 months) so for now we take each day as it comes. The ripple is mostly what I can manage on the crafty front, but I attempting to finish a dress I started many Creative Spaces ago!

Taking Shape

I have been playing around with embellishments for the completed patchwork crochet blanket. I had fun creating my own designs (top two), attempting to make them a similar size. I have some thrifted crochet doileys that I am considering adding as well.

Seeing the blanket laid out certainly highlights it's wonkiness. On reflection, this blanket was made during a difficult time for me and is wrapped up with all my fears, tears and hopes too. It is so warm and comforting and I am so pleased that something positive can emerge form something less than desirable, even if it is a little misshapen!

....and then it's back to the ripple!

Ripple Dreams

The ripple is finished! The ends are sewn in and it has had on a turn on the bed last night and is in the good room this morning. I plan to sit and enjoy that sunshine, while it lasts with a cuppa!

Late night dalliance

Oh my dear ripple blanket, it is true. Whilst you have been patiently waiting for me, night after night to return your affections, I have been playing around with something new. An innocent little motif with some yarn destined to be something else, but so anxious for my attention. The sweet, soothing pastel voice has been quietly calling, late at night when I really should be sleeping. I hope you will forgive me, my dearest ripple, I am sure this affair will be short lived.

Crochet love

Oh crochet, how I love thee! Kate has reminded me of your seductive pleasures!

I have been rippling away the last two nights, taking time out from all the stresses that seem to have hit all at once. I won't bore you with the details, just give you the headlines. A lockdown at Kinder. An appeal to get an aide for a disabled child. Sick me (all better now) Sick kids, just back from the doctor. Homework, homework, homework. Only one week left of my course, which makes me both happy and sad. Oh well, off to clean the house before it self combusts admist the dust and dirty washing. I know I can do it, when my ripple blanket patiently waits for me!

I finished the cushion, and decided to leave the edge plain - it was a little too much! Thanks for everyone's comments in helping me to decide!

Now I just need to finish the ripple......

Blooming Wonderful Bloggers

I am rippling again thanks to my wonderful friend Jazy who tracked down some green wool, of the right shade and posted it to me. Hooray! I did need to check the pattern as I had forgotten how to do it!

Thanks to everyone for your comments on My Creative Space, it was so exciting to come home from work to so many emails! Cherry put me on to this podcast from the author of knitted babes, which you may like as well! I have knitted the ballet wrap top and am working on the tu tu now. I'll show you soon.

The rose above is blooming in my garden. Friendship and support certainly are blooming in the blog community.

Cushiontober

Hooray I finished the motif cushion, and am pretending that the ripple blanket is done! I have not tracked down any more green yarn yet, so pretending will have to suffice for now!

Blogtobering Along

I love this string bag that my Mum bought me. It is my fave shade of green. Also the shade of the elusive yarn for my ripple blanket!

I am having some issues with this new doll I am making. Please tell me what you think, or is she a lost cause?

My Creative Space

This week my Creative Space is at my parent's house in East Gippsland.There is a veritable treasure trove of all things crafty! I have been raiding mum's crochet cottons!

I have been playing around with the squares for my cushion. And shock horror...I made the terrible discovery that the second ball of green for my ripple blanket is .....the wrong green! This has put the rippling progress on hold, while I hunt down the correct shade....

8ch, join with sl st.

Round 1: 3ch (count as 1tr), 1tr into ring, [6ch, 3 tr into ring] 5 times, 6ch, 1tr into ring, sl st to top of 3rd ch.

Round 2: *1ch, [1dc, 1htr,7tr, 1htr, 1dc] into next 6ch space, 1 ch, miss 1tr, 1 sl st into next tr; repeat from * 5 more times placing last sl st into top of 3ch at beg of previous round.

Cast off.

An update on the ripple blanket: I undid it! It was starting to curl up and just not sitting right. I didn't want to invest hours and then be disappointed. Thanks for everyone's input, it made for some thought provoking reading!
