Put Your Best Foot Forward

It has been a roller coaster ride here over the last week or so, with finally some movement on the house selling front. After weeks of a steady stream of lookers, but no real buyers, we finally had a buyer come through showing some real interest. Mind you, our agent had advised us to lower the price range  to hopefully 'open up our options'. Anyway, this buyer made a low offer, which the agent immediately rejected. He advised him that in order to have a chance, he needed to "put his best foot forward" So, the buyer came up with a better offer, that was actually 20,000 higher than his first.
Now we had some serious thinking to do. The amount in question was still significantly lower than what we were hoping for, but it was the first genuine interest we had so far. We reminded ourselves that selling and moving on were our motivation. There are of course no guarantees that waiting would improve the result, but I can be certain that waiting would have increased our stress levels!

So now, we just have to wait for it all to go unconditional (fingers crossed) and then we are stepping off into the next part of our journey.

Thank goodness for crochet, even if it is fiddly and even if I have made a mistake or three, it really keeps me sane,
I will have to make the most of this creative space....because I won't have it for too much longer. But, I have a new and different one waiting for me!

My Creative Space ~ W.I.P + Ribbons + Give-away

I have been working on my Birthday Planner/Organiser.

I have been struggling with the titles for each of the 5 tabs, which is kind of like that  blank page syndrome! A few times I have actually stopped to  ask myself 'What is the purpose of this planner?' to try and figure out exactly what it is I want to organise. So far I have come up with three headings and have made a contents list inside the front cover with the corresponding paper tape as used on the tabs. I have put my motex labeller into action!

So far I have:

wish lists
gift ideas
parties

any ideas would be appreciated.

I am excited to announce that I am hosting a give-away to win some of the Collected & Co goodies I used to create my Organiser and I would love you to enter -  here

Collected & Co

There is nothing quite like new stationery in my book!

I have also been doing my least favourtite, not at all creative sewing task. The arduous task of sewing ballet ribbons and elastics onto pointe shoes. I was attempting to watch Parade's End, whilst stitching (and measuring and pinning and adjusting, and re-adjusting) but couldn't really figure out was going on. But I am pleased to report that the new shoes are all ready for Thursday's ballet classes. (look how shiny and pretty they are compared to the worn out ones)I can't imagine going through more than one pair a year, let alone several during one performance. I think then it will be time to teach the ballerina how to do it herself!

My Creative Space

Lark

I have been having fun playing with my new Motex labeller, making some embellishments for my journal, amongst other things. It certainly takes me back to my childhood!

I am still loving the neon pink.
Make sure you keep a look out for my exciting give-away coming soon.

I have run out of all of the white cotton yarn now, so this will have to be on hold for a little while. But it meant I could get my little project from last week finished.  It is only a little picture as it is supposed to be a secret!

My Creative Space

It appears that my creative space of late is all about the crochet.
Can you guess what I am making?

I had some fun with felting, and I must say that I am pretty pleased that I have created a pattern that ressembles the image I had in my head!

Meanwhile, the neon pop hexie is continuing to grow, but there is a problem on the horizon, I am beginning to run out of the white cotton yarn from my stash. A bit of research, has revealed that it is discontinued. Oh dear!

My Creative Space - Totally Pointless Crochet

Things must be getting desperate when one hatches a plan to crochet a chilli.

Tutorial anyone??????

Meanwhile, in  other crochet news, the hexagon's are growing, and growing on me!

My Creative Space - Pin The Pin

I love this foxy little cross stitch and instantly pinned it to my board Things I'd Love to make.

But then I decided that felt and an old doily were more my style,  and this is the finished result! I have kind of skipped a step in the Pin The Pin, Make The Make...but I do have a bit of time on my hands at the moment!

I am thinking that I need to re-do the legs with black felt, however. What do you think?

And, I have already jumped onto my next make. I can't wait to get my hands onto some neon pink yarn that I spied at Spotlight, pre-broken foot. Not sure where I am going with them, but they were the perfect accompaniment to old episodes of Parenthood and Packed To The Rafters.

 Pin

N.B. I  made a few little changes to the hexicircle pattern, and mine seems to be a little bit more rounded on the edges.

I am excited to be to making some of the things that I have pinned, or taking inspiration from them, but I also continue to add to my collection!

My Creative Space - It's all about the 'stache!

I had rather a lot of fun creating this dapper little fellow for Nori, a Japanese friend of ours.

I used the Hipster Dolls pattern by Katie Allen in Issue 19 of Mollie Makes Magazine.

I made him a little sleeveless shirt out of some thrifted woollen fabric and his legs from children's sport socks. I could not resist a little felt moustache and snazzy bow tie. He proudly sports a little koala pin, which was the topper from a souvenir pencil

Two cute boys!

My Creative Space: Scrappy Hexagons

 The hexagons are multiplying....

and the basket is filling up!

Hexagons are being made from fabrics in my stash and precious vintage scraps.

I was inspired by the Mollie makes draught excluder in Issue 18, and just kept on going!

Will it be a big cushion, a table runner or dare I say it a quilt?

I don't know......depends how long the love affair lasts!

What would you make?

My Creative Space

I really, really  must buy this book, or borrow it again from the Library so that I can get back to making another blanket, that I'm sure I don't really need! I have been reinvigorated by this beautiful collection and have decided that I must press on!

But before I can lay a hand to a hook, I must focus and prepare to pitch the merits of positive journalling to a group of kindergarten teachers! Wish me luck!

Staying Put - My Creative Space

My plans were cut short today by a car that wouldn't start.
So what's a girl to do, but to stay put on the couch with a hand-stitching  project!
A little kit puchased a few years ago from the crazy lady herself!

P.S Car is all good now....a flat battery caused by a door left ajar  apparently by a ballerina loaded up with tutus!
