A Fresh Collection

Breakfast at a fancy new cafe with excellent company
Flowers (from my garden) for my Mum recovering from knee surgery ( I may have forgotten to pick up the flowers I ordered from the florist)
Beautiful colours in the garden, and the promise of Spring
New boots for work - now my feet are warm and dry
Bright 'new to me' place mats certainly cheer up the dinner table
Finished knitting these fingerless mitts, so now onto the lovely red crochet ones from my Winter Yarn Club (better be quick before the next package arrives)

A pom pom flower I made for The Colour Swap. I really think I need one too.

Loving a long drive way when the door-knockers are about
More night walking, this time along the road leading in to town. It's definitely a bit better lit.

Carrot Cupcakes for Afternoon Tea

I used this easy  recipe for the cupcakes. They were delicious and light in texture with the addition of almond meal (also dairy free, without the icing of course!) I didn't make the icing from the recipe, I just mixed together light cream cheese, vanilla and icing sugar and topped them off with a chocolate Speckled Egg.

I decided to create a vintage look setting for the table with roses from my garden, pretty linens and op-shopped china, and I added a few Easter decorations as well.

Almost feels like Spring!

Owls and Frypans

A Birthday is approaching for a special friend, and I decided that I wanted to make something unique for Karla. I know that she loves owls, so I thought I would have a go at making a cute little owl cushion for her.

I was so happy to head into my "crafty nook" and get designing. The Ballerina assisted me with colour and fabric choices and I rummaged around for bits and pieces I could use. It is such a delight to not have to go out and buy anything.
My fry pan even made the perfect template for the cushion shape!
Recycled and vintage materials were used, including an old grey short sleeve lambswool jumper (hellooo Mother's Day circa '95) for the head and backing, and an old striped ironing board cover complete with foam and cotton batting.

I was very happy with how it turned out, and I am looking forward to seeing her reaction!

Before and after - sketch to creation

Don't you love it when an idea turns out just how you had hoped?

Christmas 2012 Style!

Gorgeous cousins

Each bon bon had the same prize.....a heart shaped pencil eraser!

Meringue torte, with chocolate ganache, vanilla cream and a sad attempt at spun toffee!

Loved the sheet so much on the table...that I put it on the bed!
Hope that you all had a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas xx

On the craft front

I made this pot holder for a friend's birthday using my old ironing board cover (for padding), a cocktail napkin that had been Mum's and some fabric thrifted from here.

I won a pretty give-away at The Clip Cafe

Mr M is now on the waiting list for surgery for his twisted stomach hernia (up to 3 months) so for now we take each day as it comes. The ripple is mostly what I can manage on the crafty front, but I attempting to finish a dress I started many Creative Spaces ago!

@ My House Today

placing fresh linen on the bed, including my newest pillowcase acquistion (can't wait for bed time!)
enjoying a few moments of sunshine in the garden in between marking a multitude of assignments

having a giggle about this letter that arrived in the letterbox

feeling happy that this op shop purchase was an excellent gift for my BIL's 40th Birthday on the weekend. He is into sailing and nautical things. In general, feeling very pleased about a weekend spent with family and friends and exciting challenges!

My Creative Space

Today I am actually home for a creative space day - hooray for school holidays!

I have so many things to do, not all of them creatively inspiring.

I will be playing with gorgeous tablecloths that my co-worker Jenny gave me. They had belonged to her elderly Cousin Vi, who passed away last year. I am getting closer to knowing how I want my tablecloth cushions to look. The new options have thrown me a bit! (the photo only shows the ones I have actually ironed)

I will be making chocolate truffles for Easter gifts. Filled with cashews and cherry and chocolate. Covered with chocolate too. I will be trying not to eat them.

I will making a start on my give-away bear. I have just discovered that my new copier cannot enlarge 200%. Grrrr I will be up to my neck in all manner of STUFF!

I will be continuing to price goodies for the garage sale, which is next Saturday. The girls can keep the proceeds from the toys and games that they sell.....as long as they help that is. The ballerina's been at it for hours already...the teen is still sleeping!
Oh and I will be working on my pincushion too!

Hope you are having a creative day too. Check out more spaces at Kootoyoo.
