Political Unrest in Honduras

San Pedro Sula
Having recently visited Honduras we have become very interested in this little known about country. It is a land of contrast, poverty and extreme wealth as evidenced by donkey carts and BMW's side by side on the road. Cities filled with restaurants and shops, and ancient ruins just outside these cities. Beautiful rainforests and coastlines and mountains contrasted with armed militia everywhere you look.
"Honduras is a democratic republic in Central America, formerly known as Spanish Honduras to differentiate it from British Honduras (now Belize). The most mountainous of its Central American neighbors, Honduras has a wealth of attractions: the second largest coral reef structure in the world, powdery beaches studded with palm trees, cloud forests, colonial villages, Mayan ruins and vast rainforest." This article from the San Francisco Chronicle on Saturday describes the Political unrest that is going on. It is unlikely that you will hear about it in Australia. It makes you appreciate what we take for granted.
