I made this quilt for my sister in laws 50th a while back. She
wants to hang it on the wall and has asked if I can add some tabs for a rod to go through. I haven't done this before and I was wondering if anyone in blogland can point me in the direction of a tutorial or share the process. Thankyou xx
You could make a sleeve to put the rod through. cut a 3 inch strip of fabric as long as your quilt, minus 1 inch, fold 1/2inch under on each side, and stitch down. then fold under 1/2 on both sides length wise and iron to set. centre sleeve under the binding with fold butting against sewn down binding side, sew down. then do same to the otherside. If this doesn't make any sense, just ring me and I'll explain it on the phone
Hi Laurel, It is easier to add a keeper before the binding has been attached (it gets sewn in when attaching the binding strip), but if you do not want to re-do the binding again you can make a tube a bit less that the length of the quilt, turn it through so that raw edges are on the inside and then hand stitch it along both sides using a small whipped stitch catching the fold of the keeper and the backing fabric. Hope this helps.
