Op Shop Challenge?

I picked up this little beauty for 20cents at the op shop when I was suposed to be buying eggs. Does buying an old pattern count in the Op Shop Challenge hosted by Katiecrackernuts , (via Curly Pops and her fabulous dress)? I guess I need to find some thrifted fabric, that is suitable for making this dress. Any ideas?
P.S I have just discovered that there is no instruction sheet. Oh well the pattern has only 4 pieces, so it shouldn't be too hard, should it!???

  1. Great pattern - I think it would be great in a wintery fabric for now. The only problem would be that it's hard to find a piece large enough at the oppy.
Alternatively, you could look in the larger sizes section and find a dress that has enough fabric in it to cut down to size.

  2. 20c is a great price for that pattern. I reckon it would be great cut just above the hips as an overshirt worn with the skivvy and a pair of jeans. Get thee to the op shop and find a worn check blanket. Something soft, in a wool. Oooh, I saw a burnt orange check blanket in the oppy just last week that would have been perfect.

  3. that is a fabulous pattern. I agree with both comments, something heavier weight for winter. would look great with a pair of jeans.

  4. Great find! I have brought a few lovely vintage patterns at the oppy and I have seen many more that are very scary 80's styles. I think op-shop fabric or an old dress is an excellent idea! :)

    Good luck!

  5. Next question... are you going to wear a skivvie with your creation? Mmmmm... to skivvie or not?

Looking forward to seeing your finished dress. Good luck with the fabric hunt.

  6. Well, when my Nan made me something rather similar (c.1978) it was in chocolate brown velveteen. A pale pink skivvy, white tights and tan wedges would complete the whole emsemble very nicely.

Can't wait to see what you make!

  8. Funnily enough, I bought this pattern a while ago - so cool! I gave it to my sister, so I will see if it has the instructions in it. If it does I will p/copy it for you!

  9. What a great pattern - you scored very well. I'm sure you'll come across some fabulous fabric at the oppy next.Wool, denim or courdroy are often available in larger pieces. Good luck - can't wait to see the finished results.
