My Creative Space

I have a dilemma: Do I use the embroidered, lacy linen cloth for the yoke and pocket on a top I am making from a vintage pattern, or do I dare not cut up something so beautiful, in such good condition? (bought at op shop yesterday for $1.99) Please help, my scissors are poised...

Edit: well it was a unanimous decision, so here I go....Thanks for all the feedback. I will post pics as soon as it is done.

  1. Dont think about it - snip it. It will look lovely. Otherwise it is just going to sit in the cupboard

  2. Well you know what my answer will be. If you don't use it in your top where will it spend most of it's life?? In a dark drawer where no one can enjoy it's beauty?? Added to your top it can be admired and enjoyed for what it is a beautiful piece of art work!! Besides you can always reuse it on another top when you are ready to retire the current one. :) Be sure you have a chance to check out the wonderful hand work of the Honduras women!! You will find it on their clothes (hint hint)

  3. I say chop it!
At least it will be of far more use in its new incarnation.

  4. snip snip snip I say, I do this all the time, figuring at least it will be used and seen when incorporated into a frock....can't wait to see the end product!

  5. Ooooh, do it, do it!

You will get much more satisfaction seeing this in use rather than sticking it away in a cupboard. I had a similar dilema with a table cloth recently - the first snip was the hardest. However, now I look at it every day as it has turmed into a cover for my overlocker.

    You won't be sorry!
