We've all heard about shopping your own wardrobe, so what about shopping your own workplace?I am a Kinder teacher. The kinder that I work at is a small semi-rural one and has had nothing thrown out for many years, that is until I started there in late January. In the recent holidays my assistant and I spent a whole day tackling the storeroom. We could have filled a skip with what we threw away. The worst offender were lids. Lids from icecream containers. Lids from margarine containers. Lids from containers that were apparently long gone. Enough lids to sink a ship!
I did manage however to find a few little treasures to take home. I even found the vintage button in the playground last Thursday. I've also seen some pieces of fabric that deserve a second look!
But sssshhh - please don't tell anyone, just in case it's not the done thing!
There was a big clean out at our kinder at the end of last year. Oh my - it looked like no one had touched it in decades!!
ReplyDeleteIts good that the treasures from yours have been rescued. Those beads are wonderful!

Fantastic! Whenever I'd do kinder duty I'd often see some amazing things I'd like to have taken home with me...must make sure I'm there clean up day...
ReplyDeleteHHMMMM a bribe may keep me quiet! chocolates could work, or maybe those darling glass vases!!
ReplyDeleteOh i can only imagine what you found!! I found when i helped out at my childrens' preschools i'd volunteer to tidy up & mend things, oh the things they still had, sure they were from the late 70's when i was a preschooler!! Mind you, better than plastic crap. You scored well, love Posie
ReplyDeleteWell done! I won't tell anyone if you don't tell anyone I took a men's shirt out of my preppie's up box at school to wear over leggings when I was pregnant. That shirt got so many nice comments. Ha ha!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those beads! What a find! You can come over and help me sort through my barn which is filled with tabletop props from tv shows. I need to purge!
ReplyDeleteYour wonderful secret is safe with us !
ReplyDeletenice! I won't tell anyone.
ReplyDeletewhy is it that I also find an abundance of lids & not the containers for them when I am in a rush?
Your secret's safe with me, and I actually think you deserve a little gift for cleaning it out!
ReplyDeleteWhere do all the lids go? it seems to be a universal lid problem, where all the needles, socks, lights, and pens go I think.xo
